Once inactive, do u need to meet with elders to go out in service again?
by Iwonder17 inso i haven't been turing in my fake field service hours for 3 months now.
i think that it is 6 months and then you are counted as inactive.. my question is, once i am inactive, would i need to meet with the elders again to be "active" if i decided to turn in time again, or do i just start going out in service again?.
although i am fading, i want to keep my options open to make things easier down the road.

Review: Installed my free Windows 7 upgrade on my laptop
by Elsewhere infirst, i'll answer the question that most everyone seems to be asking: .
q: should i upgrade to windows 7. a: if your xp or vista is working for you, don't waste your time or money upgrading.
(if it ain't broke don't fix it) if you plan on buying a new computer, certainly try windows 7.. .

The start menu on windows was always it's worst point.
The concept of a dock and launching programs from spotlight made OS X much better.
Now windows has a taskbar that acts just like the OSX dock (maybe better with aero peek) and the start menu is just as good as spotlight, in fact I would say even better as the start menu provides a nicer way to find programs if you don't want to type than going to finder and launching the apps folder.
Windows 7 arguably has the better menu system too with large and multiple monitors, OS X's fixed menu is terrible for more than one monitor or any screen over say 26". OS X is still much better on a single screen system though with the fixed menu and spaces/expose.

What's Your View on Tipping?
by minimus intypically, i give at least 20% on my total bill.
if the service or the waitress is especially charming, maybe more.. i wonder, when you sit at a bar/restaurant and have a meal and drinks and then order a take out ( i do this for my mother quite often) are you supposed to tip on everything, including the takeout??.
when i stay in a hotel, i typically leave 2 or 3 dollars per day for the maid.

Oh, and one more thing, saying brits have bad teeth is about as daft as saying all americans are hugely obese and have a very low IQ.
All brits have bad hair is a bizarre thing to say, from what I see on TV it seems on average brits and europeans have much better hair than the average american, you can't judge over 60 million people by one congregation!?

I don't really tip anything, it isn't part of UK culture.
If at a restaurant and the bill is say £48, then I would leave £50 if paying in cash, but virtually everyone pays by credit card here so you always just pay the exact amount.
It's not because we are tight, just different, we probably pay a lot more than you for everything. My hair costs £80 ($132) to have cut/coloured (that a pretty average price, there are far more expensive salons, and I don't even live in an expensive place in the UK, London you could pay 3 times that), why would I tip on top of that, I think it's enough, if they do a good job - great that's what I have paid them for anyway. I wouldn't expect them to do a bad job for that money.
Same for restaurants, it normally costs about £50-60 ($82-100) for 2 people here for a decent place (again, you can pay anything up to 10x that), again, I expect good food and service for that anyway.

Were You Proud To Be A Witness?
by minimus inas a kid, i was.
whenever i recieved "persecution", i knew i was doing something good for jehovah.. "worldly" people about my being a jw.. were you proud or ashamed as a witness?.

I was more embarrassed or ashamed. It's hard to explain, but even as a child, something never felt right about it. When I was an adult and trying to adhere to the beliefs that I was raised with, I hid my identity as JW more than I ever publicized it. The only time I ever willingly identified myself as a JW was in the door to door work. Outside of service if I was forced into a situation where I had to admit I was one, it was embarrassing.
I did little things in everyday life that were also telling...like never leaving my Bible or meeting books or bookbags visible in the car. They always went in the trunk or behind the seat in my truck. Nothing WT related was ever left at work. If religion came up in conversation with co-workers, school mates or just people I met somewhere, I avoided getting involved.
Exactly the same for me

I agree with what oracle said, just get the balance - it's great.
I can't believe there are so many negative comments in this thread, there are pros and cons to everything, why so much bias?
